3 hour ride through Ridgefield and the Salems
I met Tom around 10:30 at Great Pond in Ridgefield, CT (the launching and transition point for Evan’s race). This was the halfway point between our houses in NY and CT and I knew that area all too well for a good ride out in the countryside. The day started out with some great mixed sun and cloud weather (with a definite wind) but became extremely gloomy and overcast that allowed the wind chill to start eating into us if we paused for too long.
This was the ride map… (click for the full image)
Bike (HR 120 – 140):
Duration: 3hrs
Distance: 39.07mi
Avg Pace: 4:27/mi
Avg Speed: 13.5mph
Max Speed: 34.3mph
Calories: 2524
Avg HR: 141bpm
Max HR: 190bpm (the reverse climb up the ridgefield tri hill 😉
Avg Cadence: 65rpm
Total Ascent/Descent: 3619/3608
HR avg was high (I expected it higher due to the constant headwinds and climbs) HR and Speed time focus were on par with one another today with the majority of the mileage being in both zones 3 and 4 (too high for base). But I guess it’s alright if I start to hold back more. Although, I do blame a bit of it on the weather, with it being pretty cold and windy it was hard to sit in and just have a relaxing ride.
Nice! Cant wait to get out there again!
