Noontime Run (Away from Work)…

This afternoon Lee and I busted away for an early “Lunch Break” that we usually spend eating at our desks. I needed to hurt. And I know I’m supposed to be in taper, but i missed the 56/13 due to the release and yeah I just raced this Sunday… but I also missed the run yesterday and I’m really pissed at what is going on and I needed to run hard and to make it hurt. I won’t be doing this again this week, but today it was really needed.

So we went to the gym at work & by the end of the 45 minute session I was up to 8.5mph and soaked.

I don’t have the usual stats but i think i covered 5.x (5.5?) miles on the tread @ incline in 45 minutes which was really tuff for me today. It was funny to think that just 2 days ago i covered 6.2 in 44 after a swim and a bike with a considerable lack of sleep… and that today i was dying for this. I love when the body does stuff like that, but i do really believe that running outdoors is so much faster for the RPE incurred. Not to mention a race setting usually ups ones game. Just interesting. I love seeing stuff like that.

  1. Head-games thats all it is. Its like those stories of the 95 lb mom that lifts a car up to save their baby in an emergency. In the right circumstance our adrenaline can really kick your game up a notch.

But likewise conditions can really degrade our abilities also. Stuff like stress. Like you said its kind of interesting to see these things actually happen.
